General Store

Meet General Store, the San Francisco transplant that opened it doors just over two months ago in Venice. Located on the corner of Lincoln Blvd and Superb this shop carries books, clothing, accessories, housewares, and plants. With selections from both vintage and new sources, most of the pieces are handmade by local artists and are made from organic and natural materials.

Though there is only one rack of women's clothing and one rack of men's, the pieces are all incredibly beautiful and special. The rich tones, patterns, and oversized designs have the perfect laid back vibe of the Venice community. They have absolutely adorable cropped ponchos!

Loved this cobalt blue blouse!

The pieces are very boho chic, perfect for heading to the flea market or farmer's market over the weekend. The pieces are all also in phenomenal condition and well worth the price.

They offer a selection of Levi's denim cutoffs, which have become a true wardrobe staple, especially here in So Cal. They are available in a variety of washes and sizes, they even had some for children.

How adorable are these sandals?

In the housewares department General Store has many amazing ceramic pieces, small table top terrariums, potted plants, rugs, blankets, and dream catchers. They also carry yummy smelling soy candles, natural room sprays, and smudge sticks.

The jewelry selection is also really amazing, including earrings sold individually so you can mix and match them and adorable bangles and necklaces.

General Store has a selection of Baggu products, including reusable shopping bags and leather pouches and bucket bags. All of their leather pieces are made from natural milled leather and are buttery soft. I scored the black zipper pouch for $45!

To my sheer delight General Store carries Otter Wax, a personal favorite of mine made in Portland, Oregon. These bars of fabric wax are great for a DIY project, or to help re-coat a pair of waxed denim loosing their luster and it is so easy to use! A full list of tutorials can be found at www.otterwax.com

They also have a collection of books including cookbooks as well as gift and coffee table books on architecture and home design. You could spend hours just flipping through these.

Overall General Store's aesthetic is minimalist with a focus on things that are naturally made and sustainable. As the about me states, the store is "a little bit of everything useful." This perfectly curated shop with its unique wares is a wonderful addition to the Venice neighborhood, and one I promise you will enjoy browsing.

And don't forget to say hello to the adorable shop dog while you're there!

You can find them at 1801 Lincoln Blvd, Venice CA 90291
